Appliance Repair by Sears Appliance Repair in Durham, North Carolina

We contacted Sears Appliance Repair to service a refrigerator that was not properly cooling. The technician arrived at 4:50pm for a 1-5pm appointment slot. Since he arrived so late I had to leave to pick up my children from daycare while my mom stayed back. As I was at the daycare my mom called with the technician on the phone. He said we would need to replace 2 parts and the cost would be a little over 1,000. Given the cost, I requested that he send me the information about the repair so I could discuss it with my husband. He told me that we would be charged an additional 50 if we did not order the parts right then and decided to order later but we could get half off the cost of the parts if we purchased a warranty through them. I was immediately turned off by the high pressure sales technique. The technician initially told my mom she could take a picture of the estimate for the parts but then changed his mind and said he would email something instead. All he emailed was a receipt for the diagnosis. We called another service company who performed a diagnosis and said we only need a part that is approximately 75. Regardless if the diagnosis was correct or not, the heavy handed pressure makes me want to never do business with them.

Repairman gave me an honest diagnosis of my washing machine and helpful advice.

Waited 2 days for service for my refrigerator, appointments were canceled both days an plush back to another 5 days. Was hung up on, told to call another service provider, which I did, i will never use Sears service again.

My riding mower was working before they tried to fix it. I would NOT recommend these guys if my life depended on it. Horrible service and they didn't even fix what I paid to get done. I now have a mower that doesn't start... The original service request was simply to change the belt on the decking and that's it.
