Steven Port | Surprisingly pleasant and helpful. Looking at gas stoves and there were many to look at and there was a very helpful and knowledgeable staff member that answered our questions. And while we were finding our way to the correct area, someone else on the staff asked if we needed any help. So like that has not been my experience with this store in the past. Hopefully it is a change in strategy and not just due to the fact that it was bad weather and the store was not busy. |
Yerachmiel Kittner | Good store, good inventory, but sometimes it's hard to find associate to help |
e hardin | I rented a wallpaper remover from this location on a Saturday afternoon but due to a chronic health condition that makes me exceedingly tired elected to begin my project the next morning. Note that the tool was rusted at the connection points and very dirty from the previous rental. I knew this when renting but assumed this wouldn't affect it working. On Sunday the tool did not work, so I went to return by 10am in the hope that my money would be refunded. I explained that the threads on the water tank cap were stripped and the unit was leaking steam to a degree that it wouldn't heat properly. The store would not refund my money. I asked where in my contract did it not permit the store to make a thoughtful decision under these extenuating circumstances and I was told, “It is my policy not to refund monies of returned tools if the renter didn't take appropriate steps to return the tool in a short period of time.” “It is my policy” seemed odd as I wondered if that was Home Depot policy. They could not point to a specific clause in my contract that prevented a refund or specified a time period. I ultimately connected with store's manager. Though professional, he repeated the policy rationale and incorrectly stated where I could find such language. I read contracts for a living and can assure you that no such clause exists in the contract I signed. I'd add that the manager admitted that he and his staff are empowered to break policy to accommodate customers under extenuating circumstances. It's done with discretion but it's frequently done. Asked whether my health condition or a broken tool qualified as an extenuating circumstance, the answer was no. So, rather than refund my money so that I could simply buy a wallpaper remover of my own, I took my business elsewhere see receipt image. My hope is that area leadership takes note. This location receives the lowest ratings of any MKE store and is by far the messiest and disordered. See the Google reviews yourself. And, interestingly, if you scroll the many reviews it is not surprising that the tool center's ratings “lead” their poor reviews. PS, a review of my credit card receipts for 2019 indicated I spent more than 2500 at Home Depot last year, most of it at this store. Not anymore. |
