Derek Ortiz | Ok, so where to start? First things first. My sister in law had a wreck and the DPS called this business to flip the car over and tow it. I asked the DPS if it was ok to get a personal item, that was on the GROUND of the accident site. He said that was fine, i just couldn't get anything from the car. I picked up my jacket and when i got close to car, the officer said he was sorry but I couldn't get anything from there until it was at Cantu's. So fast forward to 3/10. My wife called them and spoke with someone, and she said there was no charge to get out personal belongings, unless we were taking the car with us. Today, we came and found the place empty at 1PM except for a “worker”, i use that in quotations because he didn't speak english very well and Just made a call to someone else. He then disappears. The lady, whom i call the “receptionist” on the other line told my wife that we needed to make an appointment even though we were told it wasn't necessary just a day before. She had to make several calls because, apparently, she had no idea the car was at her place of business. Finally, a driver came and told her it was in their lot about 75 feet from where we standing. However, this came after these 2 spent about 15 minutes flirting with each other. So finally, this driver argued with me and my wife why should he release our personal belongings to us when the business was taking a loss with the car. I explained to him, that is unfortunately how a business is, you make money, you lose money, and that all we wanted was our personal things and they could do whatever they want with the car. He then told me if he isn't going to tell me how to do my job. I shouldn't tell him how to do his. I tried talking with him, saying its our stuff anyway, and we were worried someone would steal it. He said that wouldn't happen. This is just a driver, mind you. He isn't the owner nor is he a manager, he was making erratic decisions on his own trying to extort money from me. So finally, he says why didn't i take my belongings at the accident site. I told him, i picked up what the DPS allowed me to, which was what was on the ground, after they checked it. He said he witnessed me taking stuff out of the trunk which wasn't true and asked him to show me documentation that I did so. He became belligerent and told me pay or get lost. He then said he would call his boss and that his boss would tell me the same thing. After exchanging more points with him, my wife said it was best to go and we would make a complaint with the licensing company. While walking out he said i need to learn to tell the truth or it would come back to me. I was the bigger person and said nothing after that. I also noticed there was plenty of alcohol inside the garage and plenty of empty beer cans near a trash can marked “Cantu's.” Very unprofessional and to say they lacked respect would be an understatement. |
