spandana goli | My father called R&W Appliance and Repairs to fix our ice maker in the fridgethe one in the freezer was working fine and ice forming in the freezer issues.When we called we were told they charge 75 as service fee to just come and take a look at the issue and additional fees will apply for parts and/or labor.Roy Willis came and charged us another 75 plus taxes - 37.50 for heating the sealant in the freezer with a blow dryer type appliance so it would seal better and another 30 for blow drying the ice inside the freezer and told us to expect ice next morning thus guaranteeing his work. Next day, ice maker in the fridge still wasn't working and ice maker in the freezer also stopped working.When we called him about issues not being fixed, he started shouting at us saying we never told him about the ice maker issue and said he'll come back on Saturday at 9 am after several calls.He never showed up on Saturday, didn't pick up my father's calls so I called and explained to him that ice maker issue is the main one and he agreed to check it for free on Sunday at 10 am.By this time the ice formation in the freezer issue also resurfaced.After resetting the power on the fridge, the ice maker in the freezer started workingthis was working before he came over but he mentioned that the sealant and the ice maker in the fridge needs to be replaced. He explained that his “fix” was to heat the sealant but it is obvious that isn't a long term fix for the issue and possibly not even the cause of the issue yet instead of advising to change the sealant when he first came, he chose to just to charge me with labor and potentially charge me with more labor and parts cost for replacing the sealant.The biggest issue is he never told us how much more than the service fee he planned to charge us so we could make a decision if we wanted to go ahead with his proposed solution and just handed us a huge bill at the end.When he quoted around 180, my father requested him for a discount and he grudgingly agreed on 150. He encashed the cheque the same day. He continued to bring up not being paid for his work in all subsequent conversations but never showed ownership and accountability in his repairs.If we brought that up, he started shouting at us.When I asked him for specifics on the breakdown of the work he did and asked for an invoice he started getting angry again. In conclusion, neither does Roy Willis know how to fix an ice maker, ice formation on the side of freezer issues nor does he have a professional integrity, demeanor or courtesy so I wouldn't recommend him to anyone for a fridge repair. |
