Our dryer stopped blowing hot air. My wife went to Pattersons to see what could be done. To their credit they did not try to sell her a new dryer, but instead explained the two likely causes. I went there later and Harlon McBride showed me what the inside of the dryer looked like, and what part I needed to take out and bring in for testing. I removed the part - it was annoying but not difficult - and Mr. McBride tested it and told me the heating element was shot. For 43 I bought a replacement, Mr. McBride having shown me how to remove the old part and replace it with the new one. Getting the piece in which the element was placed back into the dryer was also frustrating, but I succeeded. I made one last trip to Pattersons to for reassurance on where the many wires went, which Mr. McBride provided me. I returned home, plugged the wires in, plugged in the dryer and started it. It worked! Our dryer is fully functional at a minimal cost to us. Pattersons impressed us both as somewhere where they want to help you, not just sell you stuff. While we do not know when we will be buying new appliances, we do know where.
