Jad Davidson | I was traveling from Colorado to Canada when we began having issues with the fuel system in my F250. They did a great job fixing my problem very quickly and also found another issue that could have been catastrophic. My ABS light kept coming on and it was diagnosed as a faulty hub. The hub was replaced and my fuel issue was resolved but he also pointed out that my oil dipstick had a crack in it. He stated that it should not be an issue. During our trip I guess that small crack got bigger as we were driving and when we got to Banff, Canada, the engine was making a horrible knocking sound. Turns out that "small crack" caused enough oil to leak and ended up starving the top end of oil which caused me to replace the lifters, rockers and rods. The shop in Canada said it probably needs a new oil pump but it will get us home. At the time we were anxious to start our vacation and trusted his work. But after shelling out almost 1K to fix these other issues I would have gladly paid another 40 to fix such a "small" issue. We literally were stranded in Canada as finding a diesel repair shop, besides FORD, was impossible. This small part totally ruined our vacation as we had to spend the majority of the two weeks searching for a mechanic. We are grateful he found the hub issue but frustrated it ruined our vacation we've been trying to make work for over three years. Hindsight, I should have had him change the dipstick but he was the mechanic and should have recommended it instead of letting something like that pass. If it were my reputation, I would not let that slide. I gave two stars because he did great work, and possibly saved our lives but such a small part fixed could have saved A LOT of frustration, headache, worry and additional expenses. |
