| Craig Thomas | I hired Mike's Custom Service to repair a 3.5 year old Maytag Maxima washing machine. The serviceman had to make three trips. Modern washing machines are complex, devilish, rascals! He diagnosed several problems and replaced two major parts. However, he still could not get the machine to work. I estimate he spent at least 8-10 total hours working on the machine plus made three separate trips to my place of 40 miles round trip for each. I finally asked the serviceman to remove the new parts and replace them with the old parts and call it quits. I was very pleased, and quite surprised, he only charged me the minimum trip charge of 89.95. I was very concerned I would be charged several hundred dollars in labor and several hundred more for the two new parts. I'm not one bit happy that I have to junk a 3.5 year old 1,100 washing machine, but I commend Mike's Custom Services for not taking advantage of the situation. I plan to buy a new washing machine with an extended warranty and when it breaks down out of warranty junk it and buy another new one. I don't think these modern machines were meant to be repaired. Add another item to the "throw away" generation. |
