| Maxime Gilles | Technician scheduled to be at my home between 8 am and 1pm. No show, only to receive a phone call after 1 pm, that he was running late. Shows up at 630 pm to do a quick inspection of water heater to tell me that I need a new one and that it is not worth fixing. No diagnostics done, but just a cursory look over. I already new that the water heater was not working properly given that it is eleven years old and water was not heating well. Technician left unit unplugged and with metal plate cover off. I had to reconnect it myself in order to have what was left of my hot water. Was charged 99 essentially to tell me that my unit is old and that I need a new one. Frankly, a waste of my day and money. Took time off work to stay home. Will be cancelling my service contract with Sears promptly and request a refund. Called a local plumber and had a new water heater installed the very next day. Showed up on time, was respectful, clean and put everything back the way he found it. Also, he let me know that plumbers are the only trade that is licensed in Illinois and that getting a water heater service contract is a scam, in that they are self sufficient and last 6 to ten years. Best to get one with a warranty. Service contract is a big scam. I can clearly see why Sears is going out of business, just the worst customer service. |
