Inside A Muslim Home | Elliott's Towing is Great! They picked us up when on the side of the highway right when we thought we wouldn't get any help. |
Rex Bowman | After many days of travel and being less than three hours from home, my car decided it was time to replace the alternator. I called AAA and Elliott Truck and Tire was sent to tow the car to the nearest hotel. During this time, I was given the hourly rate for their work, felt it was reasonable, and about average for shop work. Since it was a Saturday morning, I spend the next two days in a hotel researching the time necessary to change an alternator and one hour was the average. On Monday morning, Elliott Truck and Tire came and towed the car to the shop. Once the car was backed into the service bay, the alternator was removed in less than 30 minutes. Then the wait began for an alternator to be delivered. I asked about the quality of the alternator and was told the brand and price to which I had no objection. The alternator was delivered and the installation took less than 30 minutes. When I went to pay, I was asked how I was going to pay. I said, "With a credit a card," and was told that I would have to pay the credit card fee, which was NOT explained to me prior to them doing the work. When the total amount of the invoice was given to me, I thought there was a mistake since I had been keeping track of time and costs in my mind. I paid the amount stated and didn't raise any objections because I wanted to see my copy of the invoice first. I left and stopped to review the invoice and used a calculator to double check the addition. For approximately one hour of work to replace the alternator, I was CHARGED 185.00. As some other reviews have stated, I guess the clock was running while the car set in the service bay, even though no one was working on it. I was CHARGED 19.48 for shop supplies that consisted of using a few small wrenches, a couple of screw drivers, and flash lights. I checked the total amount the invoice and discovered i was OVERCHARGED 100. I called back and asked them to check the invoice because my addition showed a 100 mistake. I was called back and told that a 100 mistake was made, but they couldn't add it back to my credit card. However, I could come back and they would refund the difference in cash. Of course I went back. I'm thankful I didn't wait until I was home 206 miles away to pull out the calculator. In summary, be alert!! |
