Jim Braselton | Several years ago the compressor on our two-year old York unit died. When our house was built, Royal was the company the builders hired to install the original unit so we called them for repair help. Their guy came out, determined that the compressor was history, and then stood around doing nothing for an hour--waiting to hear if there was a compressor around. There wasn't. A few days later, the compressor arrived. Royal came out and installed it. The part was under warranty but labor was not. The bill arrived: travel time from Royal to our house twice which included labor, labor for the time that the guy did nothing, and labor for the replacement. It was nearly 800 to replace a part that should have lasted about ten years. What got me was charging for time that they weren't even working. If they didn't want to make the trip to fix it, they should have told me rather than charging me for it. |
