Dori Bischof | Prior to last month, I would have given Folkes 5 stars and a glowing review. A year ago, Folkes came when I called in the middle of a sub-zero Friday night, showed us evidence of a neglected boiler by a past company, and got us warm again. Folkes technicians had to come a number of times to get things in proper working order, and we were very happy each time they came with their quick response, quality of the work, and the kindness and professionalism of the technicians. Unfortunately, last month, we had no heat on our entire second floor. The technician came once, but it still a day later, it wasn't working again. The technician came back, and tried a number of fixes, but ultimately said that new thermostat wire needed to be run from the second floor to the basement. “Great!” I said. “Easy fix.” That is, until we were quoted a ridiculous amount of money. I called the office and spoke to the person in charge, and after discussing that running one piece of wire shouldn't ban a nearly 500 job, I asked him to give us a new quote. It wasn't much better. So we did the job ourselves in less than an hour. I called the owner on three occasions to try to discuss this situation and why that quote was so high. A month later, I am still waiting for that return call. I would hope this is an oversight. To be continued. . . |
